Sing a Song
I would love to be able to sing to you a song
A song like my daddy used to do
‘Fly me to the moon’ or
‘Pack up your troubles in your own kit bag and smile, smile, smile’
I wonder if that was his wish to fly to the moon
Or just to be able to pack up his troubles
How I wish today I could fly to the moon
And meet him there, maybe just a day or two.
Or maybe if I could have helped him pack up his troubles in a kit bag
And bury it under a rag
I remember thinking, if anything would happen to him
I would always remember him singing in his beautiful soothing voice.
Memories were made
Definitely of the highest grade
Now I have my own songs in my heart
Songs of joy
Songs of love
Songs of thankfulness
And I think my daddy is looking from above and he
Smiles, smiles, smiles
